The House of the Tasihin, Lappeenranta

The flagship of South-Karelian handicrafts is the South-Karelia Crafts Association, Taito Etelä-Karjala ry.The Association is housed in a repaired and renovated building which dates from the beginning of the 1800s. It was originally the home and working place of a shopkeeper named Tasihin. Traditional Finnish and Southern-Karelia handicrafts are displayed both in the Art Shop and the Laura Gallery within the House of the Tasihins. There is also an Atelier, which specializes in products for interior decoration, and clothes for women. The work of the South-Karelian Crafts Association will be outlined during guided tours of the building. These can be booked in advance for groups of visitors.
