Craft courses are a counterbalance to work for me. It’s nice to come to a course because I get tips, advice and ideas from other students.”

The need for lifelong learning will become increasingly important in the society of the future, with more and more people needing to update their skills at different stages of their lives.
The right to learn and the pleasure it brings belong to everyone. Education and knowledge pathways are changing and evolving: it is no longer where you learn, but what you know.
Practising and learning new skills provides meaningful activities and a sense of inclusion throughout life. We are experts on teaching skills and we know the traditions of crafts.
Vocational education
Vocational education and training is for you if you want to develop your professional skills towards a degree or to deepen and complement your professional skills in the crafts sector.
Within Taito, vocational training is provided by Taito Central Finland and Taito Central Ostrobothnia. Training is organised in cooperation with training providers such as educational institutions. Vocational training in the crafts sector ensures that craft-based sectors will continue to exist in the future.
Education develops working life, meets the skills needs of working life and promotes entrepreneurship. Vocational education and training also supports lifelong learning. Secondary vocational qualifications allow, for example, to continue studies in higher education
Rehabilitative work activities
Rehabilitative work activities are social services under the Social Welfare Act (1301/2014), which are organised by the welfare regions. Rehabilitative work activities are intended for unemployed persons who are unable to participate in public employment services, training or work due to limitations in their ability to work and function. Taito-associations throughout Finland provide rehabilitative work activities in manual skills in cooperation with welfare regions. People apply for rehabilitative work activities through social services. The duration of the service is agreed together with the client and the social worker. Volume of the activities varies depending on financing.
