Founded in 1913, the Finnish Crafts Organization Taito takes care of the Group’s common affairs, engages in developing the sector and tends to communications and domestic and international connections. The organization’s own publication, the TAITO journal, has been issued without interruption since 1907.
It is the organization’s duty to support regional crafts associations by performing the Group’s development work, launching service development projects and attending to communications and matters concerning state subsidies. Another important task of the Crafts Organization Taito is to act as an antenna, seeking out changes in society, and as an advocate of and expert in the crafts culture.
One of the Finnish Crafts Organization Taito’s priorities is the development of the crafts sector. Crafts are intrinsically linked to cultural, social and industrial policies. The organization influences crafts policies by writing reports and making comments, being in contact with decision-makers, networking with other players in the sector and being active in domestic and international communities.
